At St.Peter's we are passionate about inclusion for all children. Each individual child is at the centre of our planning; we are committed to putting in the right support and appropriate provision to meet each child's individual needs. Our aim is to enable each child to reach their potential.
At St.Peter's, we are committed to:
- Understanding each child's individual needs and catering for them;
- Using a range of specialised strategies and interventions to support individual learners;
- Developing an inclusive community and ethos where each child feels a sense of belonging;
- Celebrating and embracing our differences and diversity and what each child brings to our community;
- Building close partnerships with parents to work together to support each child.
What do we mean by Special Educational Needs?
A child has Special Educational Needs if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them. They may have:
- A significantly greater difficulty in learning that the majority of children of the same age;
- A disability that prevents them from making full use of the educational facilities generally provided for other children of the same school age.
They may have difficulty in one or more of the following areas:
- Communication and interaction;
- Cognition and learning;
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health;
- Sensory and Physical.

Mrs Jenner - SENCO
With extensive classroom experience and SENCo qualification, I am passionate about creating an inclusive school environment in which each child can succeed. Staff SEN Champions
We have staff SEN champions for ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia and Speech and Language. They are an ambassador for their area of SEN, helping to extend knowledge and promote understanding across the school.

SEN working party
The SENCo and 4 parents run a SEN working party. We meet 4 times a year to review SEN provision and to look at how to promote and embed inclusion across the school. In 2022-2023, we reviewed transition, self-esteem and parental involvement. One example of a new initiative inspired from our discussions is that every child on the SEN register now has a pupil passport which they have taken with them into their new class.

Parent talks
We run parent talks and coffee mornings to share useful information and strategies for parents. It is also an excellent opportunity for parents to meet and share experiences. In March 2023, we ran a parent talk with guest speakers from the local SENShub, Space2Bme and Aspens.
