Medical

In the case of illness parents must telephone the School when their child is unable to attend on the first day of the absence, by 8.30am and each day thereafter with the reason for this.

Medical appointments

The School office must be advised of any booked medical appointments as soon as possible. Whenever possible, all medical/dental appointments should be made outside of school hours unless an emergency has arisen.

Parents should provide medical evidence indicating attendance at the dentist, doctor or optician, if asked to do so.

Administration of Medicine

Prescribed medicine can be given by the school – the Medicine Administration Form must be filled out (please find this below). They will be stored in a fridge where necessary.

Currently we are unable to administer non-prescribed medicines (e.g. calpol) but parents are welcome to come into school to administer a dose if necessary.

Asthma

Asthma inhalers will be stored in boxes in the classrooms - these will be taken out with the child to PE and play when out of the classroom. Please ensure the Asthma Form is filled out, attached below. Please ensure your child's inhaler is in date and working correctly. Please provide a copy of any updated asthma care plans provided by GP's or hospital.

Allergies

If your child has any allergies you must inform the school. School is currently unable to administer Anti-histamine or hayfever remedies, therefore, this needs to be taken before school.

Flu Vaccine

Annually parents will receive information about the Flu Vaccine programme offered by the NHS. For Primary School children this is administered via a nasal spray. You will be asked for consent for this by the NHS. Please find more information about this below.
