We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold level Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year. This is our 3rd year in a row achieving this standard!
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
2024 - 2025 Sporting Events
Girls Tag Rugby
On Wednesday 2nd October St Peter's entered a Girls Tag Rugby event. With support from Darren and The Tonbridge Juddians Rugby Club the children in Y 3,4,5 and 6 from Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells schools went and experienced a non-competitive tag rugby festival which will included a carousel of skills and drills, finishing with some friendly games.
The girls had a wonderful time. Well done for taking part to: Lily, Charlotte, Clara, Holly, Ada, Claudia, Emmy, Anya, Peggy, Hazel and Robyn.
Basketball
On Tuesday 12th November St Peter's took part in an Inter-school Basketball competition. Alex, Henry S, Hamish, Daniel A, Siya and Ella made up the team. The competition was held at Leigh Academy in Tonbridge. The team played brilliantly and they had a lot of fun! A special well done to Siya and Ella who had to play all of the matches as the rules stated we needed two girls on the court at all times!
Football
St Peter's has again entered the Primary Schools Championship which is run by MSporti each year. It is an inter-school championship.
Our first match was against Speldhurst away. We played really well against a very good opposition. The score was 5-0 to Speldhurst which was a tough start to the season but onwards and upwards!
Well done to the team:- Daniel A, Jason D, Sameed, Artie, George K, Henry O, Charlie R, Hamish, Isaac, Lockie.
Our second match was on 12th December against SKPS at home, unfortunately it was another loss but we're improving as a team all the time! The score was 3-1 to SKPS.
Our third match was against St Marks was due to be on 28th January but this was postponed.
We played Bidborough at home on 3rd Feb. They are a very strong team with a number of club players, we played really well against them despite losing the match 4-1. Mr Watts was very proud of the effort they continued to put in right up until the end of the game. Well done team!
On 10th February we played St Matthew's, away, on a very cold afternoon! The team played really well and Hugo made some fabulous saves! Unfortunately, we didn't win the match but the boys should be very proud of themselves! The score was 3-0 but this doesn't reflect what a close match it was.
Netball
St Peter's is playing in the Inter-School Netball league organised through MSporti.
Our first match was against St John's netball team at home. We won 12-4! It was a great game and we learnt a lot in our first game of the season. Well played everyone: Alex H, Hamish W, Cyrus, Dakota, Ada, Eva, Clara and Claudia.
Our second match was against Speldhurst and again was a home match. We narrowly lost 3-4 to Speldhurst, it was a very close game and was super exciting to watch! Well done to the team: Eva, Ada, Cyrus, Hamish, Alex, Clara, Claudia and Lily.
Our third match was played on 6th February 2025. We played against St Augustine's at St Greg's. The team played brilliantly! They are really working well together and have a good understanding of the rules. We won 6-1! Well done team!: Eva, Lily, Cyrus, Hamish, Alex, Clara, Claudia, Ada and Mariana.
Cross Country
On Monday 11th November, Charlie R, Luke A, Ella L, Mabel R, Tilly G and Bruno S attended the Inter-School Primary Cross Country event held at Skinners Boys Sports Field. They did really well and came 10th out of 16 schools.
For a lot of them, this was the first time they had attended a Cross Country event and they all had a fantastic time! Well done!
Indoor Athletics Years 5&6
On Wednesday 11th December, Alice , Ada, Emmy, Ella, Lucas, Sameed, Artie, Hugo, Henry O, Charlie, Jago R, Lily, Hamish, Mimi and Eva all attended an Inter-School Indoor Athletics competition!
Badminton
Badminton Festival
On Thursday 30th January, Children from years 3-6 took part in a Badminton festival at Leigh Academy school in Tonbridge. Children took part in many different badminton related activities to help strengthen their understand of badminton skills and game play. The children who took part really enjoyed the afternoon and came away with much more of an understanding of how the game is played. Well done to Steven (Year 3), Adeline, William, Henry G and Annabel (Year 4), Dylan and Emmy (Year 5), and Cyrus (Year 6) for taking part!
