Young Voices
On Monday, 15th January 2024, Year 5 and 6 went on a trip to the O2 Arena to sing with the world’s largest children’s choir, Young Voices.
Firstly, we left school around 11.15 am to get on the coach. We walked up to the main school gates to get in. The coach was a very big, luxurious double decker bus, which came with comfy seats with fold out tables, and four-seater tables.
We were all put in groups with a teacher, and we all sat together.
As the bus left, we were all very excited! On the way up, we practised our Young Voices music on the coach!
And soon enough, we got to the O2!
The bus parked in the parking spot, and then we started walking up to the arena.
Once we got there, we all took a photo outside of the arena, then we headed inside. We walked for a while, we went up escalators, then we walked past all the other schools that were sitting down in the corridors eating their lunch. Eventually, we sat down to eat our food and for a toilet break. We were there for quite a long time, but when everyone finished, we headed in to find our seats!
Then, some of the Young Voices staff came on the stage to start to do our warm-up. We sang along to some warm-up songs, then we started the rehearsal. We practised all of the Young Voices songs in order, and for some of the songs, we were split into parts with different coloured spotlights! The rehearsal was about 3 hours long. We met our conductor who led the whole rehearsal!
After that, we got time to eat our packed dinner before everyone arrived and the show started.
The conductor raised his baton, and soon enough, the show started. The first song we sang was The Moment, and then there was a speech from the host.
We sang a lot of songs, but my favourite song was probably either the Moana Mashup or the Matilda Medley.
I also loved the Urban Strides dancers.
However, I enjoyed every bit of it, and I will never forget this life-changing experience!
Thank you so much to the Young Voices team for making this event happen, all the teachers that came with us, Mrs. Smith for teaching us all the songs and practising with us, and thank you to Mrs. Page, Mrs. Langton, and Mrs. Bankes for organising our school to come to this amazing event.
THANK YOU!
